I mentioned a couple of posts ago that vibes player Jim Hart was bringing his excellent Cloudmakers Trio to the Jazz Bar in Edinburgh on Wednesday. Well, I’ve just discovered that they’re coming to Glasgow on Thursday (the 28th). Mind you, having seen the weather forecast, cloudmakers are the last thing we need right now: couldn’t they change their name to JH and the Sunshine Band for the night?
But joking aside, they’re a very fine band who played a splendid gig at the Vale Bar a couple of years ago. Michael Janisch is on bass, and Dave Smith on drums.
Their concert is at Glasgow Art Club in Bath Street and starts at 8pm. Admission is £8 with £6 concessions.
There are plenty of Glasgow Jazz Festival gigs competing for an audience this Thursday – YolanDa Brown, the Robert Glasper Experiment, Robert Cray, Leo Condie, Helle Lund with Raymond MacDonald, and the Euan Stevenson Trio – but if you haven’t already got a ticket for one of them, I reckon this will be one of the best things on that night. However, I’ve already booked to go to hear Robert Glasper. Sorry, guys.
