Kirkcudbright Jazz FestivalThe 15th Kirkcudbright Jazz Festival is on this weekend, starting tomorrow, Thursday 14th June and running until Sunday 17th.

The event is now established as one of the main festivals of trad and early jazz in Scotland. Its website is slightly vague about which band is playing when, but the formula is the same as in previous years: a few formal concerts, lots of free gigs in pubs and hotels, and a Jazz Dine-a-round offering live music with your evening meal (and there are some pretty good restaurants involved).

Among the folk taking part this year are:

  • The West Jesmond Rhythm Kings
  • The New Century Ragtime Orchestra
  • Rose Room
  • Rachel’s Dream
  • Enrico Tomasso
  • Thomas L’Etienne
  • Paul Munnery’s Swing Street with Mellow Baku Avstreih
  • Bob Dwyer’s Bix and Pieces

It’s always an enjoyable weekend, in an attractive small town. Unfortunately, the weather isn’t forecast to be as good as it was two years ago:
