After a few problems finding a suitable venue, details of Thursday’s gig by Euan Burton and Birmingham sax player Mike Fletcher have now been confirmed.
It’s at Slouch Bar in Bath Street, and starts at 10.30pm. The quartet (Euan on bass, Mike on saxes, Tom Gibbs on piano and Doug Hough on drums) will play two sets, from 10.30 to 11.30 and from midnight to 1 am, after which there will be DJ Daddy Scrabble playing jazz old and new until 3am. Admission is only £3 (or £2 concessions for students).
The late starting time will allow people to get to one of the night’s other jazz gigs beforehand: you’ve got a choice of the excellent Ryan Quigley Big Band at the Ferry, classy Australian singer Janet Seidel at the City Halls Recital Room, or the Royal Conservatoire Big Band (directed by Chris Greive) at the Royal Conservatoire.
