Monday 28 November
Blue Mondays featuring Alyn Cosker, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
A group of students from the Conservatoire’s jazz course, lead from the drums by Alyn Cosker. Judging by the set list published on the RCS web site, the concert will include material from Alyn’s debut CD, Lyn’s Une. The concert starts at 6.30pm and tickets are £6 (£4 concessions).
Tuesday 29 November
Rush Hour Jazz, City Halls Recital Room
Students from Glasgow’s other jazz course, the Applied Music B.A. at Strathclyde Uni, playing a mixture of late 50s – early 60s hard bop and original compositions. It’s a 5.30pm start, with tickets costing £4.
Thursday 1 December
Secret Architecture, Glasgow Art Club
New York-based Quartet led by Perth-born saxophonist Fraser Campbell, with Wade Ridenhour (piano), Julian Smith (bass) and Zach Mangan (drums). 8pm.
Saturday 3 December
Kim Macari Quartet, Brel, Ashton Lane
Young trumpeter Macari – originally from Scotland but now based in London – brings her quartet to Brel. 3pm start, free.
Sunday 4 December
Brass Jaw, City Hall Recital Room
Closing concert of Brass Jaw’s extensive UK tour. 8pm, £12.
