Newcastle bass player Andy Champion brings his band ACV (the Andy Champion Five, presumably) to Glasgow Art Club on Thursday night as part of a UK tour. The Art Club’s easy to walk past, despite having a main door entry onto Bath Street: it’s at number 185, just west of Blythswood Street and diagonally across from Hummingbird. The concert starts at 8pm.

Some sources suggest that they’re actually playing at Brel on Saturday afternoon, but the band’s own website states that their Glasgow gig is at the Art Club on Thursday, and Brel’s says that it’s the Andy Dunsmuir Quintet who are there on Saturday. ACV are in Edinburgh at the Jazz Bar on Wednesday, so a Thursday night gig would fit last year’s pattern of bands playing the Jazz Bar on Wednesday then the Art Club on Thursday.

Andy Champion and the band’s guitarist, Mark Williams, were both here several weeks ago as part of Zoe Gilby’s excellent band, but we can expect something a bit more jazz-rock from them this time round:
