The programme for Celtic Connections 2012 was announced earlier today. Obviously, as a folk and world music festival it’s not going to feature much jazz, but if you look closely there is some, along with lots of excellent music which has absolutely nothing to do with jazz.

Some of the details of the programme have still to be filled in, but an initial quick scan through the listings reveals performances by, among others, Lol Coxhill, the Hidden Orchestra, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Omar Sosa, the Federation of the Disco Pimp, Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns, Armenian pianist Tigram Hamasyn, and a series of jazz gigs at Brel.

Information about dates, times, venues and prices can be found on the Celtic Connections website.

Here’s something to get you in the mood. I’m pretty certain the weather in Glasgow in January will be rather different, unfortunately.
