Northern Irish jazz and blues singer Otillie Patterson died last month, aged 79.
One of the most authentic-sounding British blues singers ever, she came to prominence in the mid-fifties as singer with the Chris Barber Band, but throat problems caused her to cut back on her performances from the mid-sixties on, and she retired completely in 1973.
For the last 30 years or so she lived in Ayr, where she died on June 20th this year.
Obituary in the Belfast Telegraph.
