Dundonian trumpeter Jimmy Deuchar, one of the finest jazz musicians Scotland has produced, was born on June 26th 1930. Today would have been his 81st birthday, but unfortunately he died in 1993.

As well as leading his own band, he worked with many of the leading British and European bands and musicians of the day: Johnny Dankworth, Victor Feldman, Ronnie Scott, the Clark-Boland Big Band and, as in this clip, Tubby Hayes:
