Lee Konitz is in hospital in Melbourne following emergency surgery for a subdural haematoma (bleeding in the brain). The legendary alto player was due to play in Glasgow, alongside Tomasz Stanko, on July 2nd but will obviously now be unable to appear.
Glasgow Jazz Festival say that
Lee Konitz is recovering & in stable condition following emergency surgery for a subdural haematoma. The 83 year old will be recuperating in Melbourne and is unable to travel until further notice.
The concert at the Old Fruitmarket on 2 July will go ahead with Tomasz Stanko and Minsarah. If you have purchased a ticket and would like a refund please contact the point of sale. We wish Mr Konitz a speedy recovery.
