Tomorrow night’s concert (Thursday 14th April) at the Glasgow Art Club is by the London post-bop saxophonist Alex Garnett, who’ll be there with a quartet which also includes pianist Ross Stanley, the outstanding Michael Janisch on bass, and drummer Enzo Zirilli. As usual, it starts at 8pm. Admission is £6 with £5 concessions.
Here’s three of them in action, with Stanley playing organ.
Michael Janisch isn’t in the video, but will be back at the Art Club in a fortnight’s time (28th) with his own band, the Paradigm Quintet. Their line-up includes one of the finest young trumpeters around, the American player Jason Palmer: if you’re interested in contemporary trumpet playing, this is one not to miss.
Next week (21st) it’s the turn of Brass Jaw, who surely need no introduction by now.
