I don’t understand Glasgow Jazz Festival’s marketing strategy. On the one hand, they don’t embargo news of events until the formal launch of the festival programme; on the other, they don’t make details of them available on their own website until the launch.

The result is that, while the Glasgow Jazz Festival site is still saying “Watch this space for details of our 25th Festival very, very soon….”, it’s possible to work out some of the concerts that will be on from venue and band websites. Here’s what’s been announced for the Tron Theatre so far:

  • 29th June. Ken Mathieson’s Classic Jazz Orchestra play pieces commissioned during the early years of the festival from Gerry Mulligan and Benny Carter.
  • 1st July. John Etheridge’s Sweet Chorus.
  • 2nd July. Meadow: John Taylor, Tore Brunborg and Thomas Stronen
