This year’s Fife Jazz Festival starts in a couple of days time, on Friday 4th February, and runs until Sunday 6th.

The main venues are in Dunfermline and St Andrews, but there’s plenty of stuff on elsewhere in the county.

Some highlights are:

Friday 4th:
Evan Parker and John Russell, Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline. There will be a solo set from each of them, plus a duo performance.
A double bill featuring the Mina Agossi Trio and Zoe Rahman playing solo, Byre Theatre, St Andrews.

Saturday 5th:
Zoe Rahman makes another appearance, this time as pianist in the Courtney Pine Band which is playing at the Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline.
Trio AAB – always worth hearing – are at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews.

Sunday 6th:
Ken Mathieson’s Classic Jazz Orchestra are performing music by Duke Ellington at the Lomond Hills Hotel in Freuchie.
American pianist Cyrus Chesnut is at the Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline. There was an interview with him in today’s Herald, although it hasn’t made it onto their website.

There are also plenty of concerts by local musicians, including both the Fife Jazz Orchestra and the Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra. A full list of concerts, including times and prices, is available on the Fife Jazz Festival web site.
