Singer Jonathan Carr is performing at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on Saturday 9th January, backed by a nine-piece band.

Carr studied at Berklee and was a finalist in the first BBC Scotland Young Jazz Musician of the Year (the one won by Alan Benzie). I’ve not heard much by him, just the odd track on The Jazz House, but his music sounds like rather good poppy jazz (or is it jazzy pop?). So, if you’re gallus enough to brave the elements this evening, King Tut’s looks like being the place to be. The show starts at 8pm and there are two support bands.

Jonathan Carr on YouTube: “The Meaning of the Blues” from his time at Berklee; and his own song “Daisy Buchanan” from a 2009 gig at King Tut’s.

The concert was reviewed in the Scotsman.
