If you pick up a copy of the latest Events Programme for East Kilbride Arts Centre and Village Theatre, the “At a Glance” calendar at the back helpfully tells you what type of event each show is. There’s Drama, and Comedy, and History Talks, and Film, and Music. The performance by The John Fleming Quartet on Saturday 13th February isn’t classified as “Music”, though, but as “Jazz”, which is obviously something quite different.
Oddly enough, the cover of the brochure is a picture of John Fleming in action on tenor. It seems that saxophones are a symbol of coolness in the marketing world, even though jazz is weird and anoraky and not even music.
