Thanks for describing mine as a “proper” obituary…like you I was somewhat taken aback to see that Humph’s obit in the ‘Graun’ was written by the late George Melly! There is a non-supernatural explanation, of course. And thanks for finding ‘Bad Penny Blues’ (Humph’s only chart “hit” – partly due to the artificial echo added to the original 1956 recording , to Humph’s initial horror, by producer Joe Meeke).

This great musician, humourist and humanitarian will be sorely missed. But just thinking about him brings on a smile, even at this time.
